The global figure is agreed; the difference is in how the national order is read. ### Is UTS still Australia’s top young university? That description has a date on it. UTS announced on [14 May 2024](https://www.uts.edu.au/news/2024/05/uts-ranked-australias-top-young-uni-fourth-year) that it was named Australia’s top university under 50 years old in the THE Young University Rankings 2024, for the fourth year running, and 11th in the world in the same ranking. KD International used the same description in a [tweet dated 10 July 2023](https://x.com/kdiaus/status/1678366971560185856). The university’s current rankings page does not show a 2026 edition of the young university ranking, so rely on the latest published edition and check the university site before you use the claim. ## What are UTS’s strongest subjects? According to the [UTS ratings and rankings page](https://www.uts.edu.au/about/why-uts/ratings-and-rankings), its highest QS Rankings by Subject 2026 positions are: | Subject | World position 2026 | Source | | --- | --- | --- | | Nursing | 16th | [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/about/why-uts/ratings-and-rankings) | | Computer Science and Information Systems | 55th | [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/about/why-uts/ratings-and-rankings) | | Electrical and Electronic Engineering | 64th | [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/about/why-uts/ratings-and-rankings) | | Law | 75th | [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/about/why-uts/ratings-and-rankings) | UTS is also known for design, architecture, media and communication — fields close to what applicants to the Cultural Scholarship Program (برنامج الابتعاث الثقافي) of the Saudi Ministry of Culture look for. Before you decide, open the [Cultural Scholarship platform](https://scholarship.moc.gov.sa/) and read the approved institutions list and available fields for the current round, because those lists change between rounds. ## Is UTS on the Saudi Ministry of Education lists for 2026–2027? UTS does not appear in the [Ministry of Education guide to university lists by field for 2026–2027](https://object.moe.gov.sa/nasaq/cm/files/aldlyl-alastrshady-ltrtyb-qwaaem-aljamaeat-hsb-almjalat-2027-2026.pdf), which covers the Al-Ruwwad (الرواد), Research and Development (البحث والتطوير) and Emdad (إمداد) tracks. The Al-Ruwwad list itself holds 30 global universities and contains no Australian university. What that means in practice: - If you are applying to one of those three tracks of the King Salman Scholarship Program, start from your field list in the guide and pick a university that is on it. - If you are on another track or another sponsor’s program (the Cultural Scholarship, or an employer scholarship), the approved list comes from that body, so read its own conditions. - If you are self-funded, the constraint is your offer and your visa, not a scholarship list. ## What are the entry requirements at UTS? ### Academic requirements For undergraduate entry, applicants from Saudi Arabia meet the standard through "successful completion of at least one full-time year at bachelor’s degree level at a recognised university or tertiary institution", per [UTS academic entry requirements](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/how-to-apply/international-applicants/academic-entry-requirements). Postgraduate entry is assessed on your bachelor’s performance, and may require work or research experience; doctoral entry requires the equivalent of a relevant master’s degree or a bachelor’s with first or second class honours. ### English language requirements | Test | Standard minimum | Notes | Source | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | IELTS | 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing | Nursing and midwifery 7.0 with 6.5 writing; teaching 7.5 with 7.0 writing | [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/study/international/essential-information/english-language-requirements) | | TOEFL iBT | 79 overall with 21 in writing | — | [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/study/international/essential-information/english-language-requirements) | | PTE Academic | 58 overall with 50 in writing | — | [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/study/international/essential-information/english-language-requirements) | Scores are recognised if they were obtained less than two years before you apply, per [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/study/international/essential-information/english-language-requirements). ## How to apply to UTS, step by step - Choose the course and read its page; some courses carry special requirements not listed in the general rules. - Prepare certified copies of your transcripts and English test result. UTS requires certified copies and states that simple scans or standard photocopies are not accepted, per [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/how-to-apply/international-applicants). - Attach an official English translation alongside the original for any document in another language; translations need an official seal and the translator’s signature, per [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/how-to-apply/international-applicants). - Write the personal statement UTS asks for, and add a portfolio if your field is design. - Pay the non-refundable AUD 100 international application fee, per [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/fees-costs/international-fees). - Pick your intake: Autumn (February/March), Spring (July) or Summer (November); closing dates vary by applicant location, per [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/how-to-apply/international-applicants). ## What does studying in Sydney cost? Tuition varies between courses and from year to year, is paid in advance each session, and is published in the UTS course fee search, so read the figure for your own course, per [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/fees-costs/international-fees). What can be fixed today: - Application fee: AUD 100 per application, per [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/admissions-entry/fees-costs/international-fees). - Student visa application charge: from AUD 2,500 since 1 July 2026, per [Study Australia](https://www.studyaustralia.gov.au/en/plan-your-move/your-guide-to-visas/student-visa-subclass-500). - Evidence of living costs: AUD 29,710, per [Study Australia](https://www.studyaustralia.gov.au/en/plan-your-move/visa-application-process). Sydney came 6th in the world in the QS Best Student Cities Ranking 2026, per the. It is also one of Australia’s most expensive cities for rent, so budget for housing early and review the [UTS cost of living page](https://www.uts.edu.au/for-students/international/life-in-sydney/cost-of-living). ## Who is UTS a good fit for? The main campus sits in central Sydney near Central Station, and the university recorded 54,403 student enrolments in 2025, including 15,380 international students, per [UTS](https://www.uts.edu.au/about/university/facts-figures-and-rankings). If your field is technology, design, media or nursing, and you want a city campus rather than a suburban one, UTS deserves a place on your list. If your study is tied to Ministry of Education lists, start from the list and then choose the university. ## Your next step Decide your pathway first — Ministry of Education list, Cultural Scholarship, or self-funded — then confirm the English requirement on your course page, then prepare certified copies early, because documents are what usually delay files.
